Teachers at Wisdom College took part in a professional ICT development seminar to learn how they could not only develop student ICT capability while effectively using technology in the classroom, but also that would ensure that the Australian Curriculum requirement would be met.
A total of 10 teaching staff participated in the 1 hour seminar and were given the opportunity to ask questions about the topics discussed throughout the presentation.
Key skills and knowledge learnt included:
- Optimising opportunities in the curriculum: learning about ICT capability and its development;
- How to plan for progression in student ICT capability;
- Creating an effective assessment strategy;
- Efficiently organising ICT in the classroom to ensure the learning of ICT skills.
The professional development for teachers was believed to be "well organised and paced" and "easy to understand".
The seminar titled "Grow Student ICT Capability in the Primary Classroom" (now titled "Primary Classroom Strategies: Develop Student ICT Capability") was developed to give primary teachers the skills and knowledge they need in order to prepare students for 21st century life with key skills like ICT capability.
