Frequently Asked Questions
About the Membership
1. What is the ICT in Education Teacher Academy?
The ICT in Education Teacher Academy is an online professional-learning membership for early childhood educators and primary teachers.
It helps educators build professional knowledge, find practical solutions to immediate teaching needs and make informed decisions about using digital technology to support children’s learning.
Members begin with a question from their own practice, use the Academy’s Wisdom Tool to find relevant knowledge and guidance, apply what they learn and reflect on the impact.
2. Who is the Academy designed for?
The Academy is designed for early childhood educators and primary teachers who want to use digital technology purposefully, appropriately and confidently.
It supports educators at different stages of experience—from those developing their confidence to those seeking to deepen their digital pedagogy.
The Academy may be particularly helpful if you:
- have an immediate classroom question or challenge;
- want practical guidance relevant to your teaching context;
- are uncertain about whether or how technology should be used;
- want to connect professional learning directly with your practice;
- want to examine the effect of your decisions on children’s learning.
3. What is included in the membership?
Membership includes access to:
- the Wisdom Tool—our AI-powered membership search tool;
- a professional knowledge base focused on teaching and learning with digital technology;
- practical teaching resources;
- professional-learning workshops;
- expert presentations and replays;
- the member Workbook;
- the Technology Integrator’s Learning Journey to Transformation;
- community discussions and learning prompts;
- guided member emails;
- live facilitation sessions during your initial 90-day pathway.
These elements work together to help you begin with a professional need, ask a meaningful question, develop relevant knowledge, apply a practical response and reflect on its impact.
4. Do I need to be confident or experienced with digital technology?
No. You do not need advanced technical knowledge or extensive experience with digital technology.
You begin from your present level of knowledge, confidence and practice. The Academy can help you understand the fundamentals, make appropriate decisions and gradually develop your capabilities.
More experienced educators can investigate deeper pedagogical questions, evaluate their existing practice and work towards more sophisticated uses of digital technology.
How members learn
5. Is the Academy simply a library of resources, courses and videos?
No. Although the Academy includes resources, workshops, presentations and professional-learning materials, it is not designed for passive browsing, downloading or watching.
Members begin with something they need to understand, decide or improve in their practice. They ask a focused question, find relevant professional knowledge and practical solutions, apply what they learn and reflect on the result.
The resources support this learning process—they are not its starting point.
6. Why does the Academy encourage members to begin with a question?
Beginning with a question makes your professional learning immediately relevant.
Instead of completing predetermined content that may not address your current needs, you identify what you need to understand or improve at the moment it matters. Your question guides you towards appropriate knowledge, practical strategies and supporting resources.
Professional learning therefore begins with your practice—not with a list of content to consume.
7. What is the Wisdom Tool, and how does it help me?
The Wisdom Tool is the Academy’s AI-powered membership search tool. It allows members to ask questions in everyday language and search the Academy’s professional knowledge base.
You bring an immediate teaching need, uncertainty or professional goal to the tool. It helps you find relevant educational knowledge, practical guidance and supporting membership content.
This means you begin with what you need to learn—not by searching manually through numerous resources.
8. What kinds of questions can I ask through the Wisdom Tool?
You can ask questions about digital pedagogy, curriculum integration, intentional teaching, play-based learning, assessment, planning, observation, creativity, problem-solving and children’s learning with technology.
For example:
How can I use digital technology to support children’s scientific inquiry without allowing the technology to take over the experience?
The most useful questions explain your context, what you want children to learn and the challenge or decision you are facing.
9. How is the Wisdom Tool different from searching the general internet?
A general internet search may produce large amounts of disconnected information, generic advice and commercial recommendations that you must assess yourself.
The Wisdom Tool searches the Academy’s focused professional knowledge base. It connects your question with relevant educational knowledge, practical strategies and membership resources.
Subscribers continually search. Members begin with their immediate need and receive guidance that helps them move towards an informed, practical response.
10. What happens after I receive an answer?
Receiving an answer is the beginning of the learning process—not the end.
You consider the guidance, examine any relevant supporting materials and choose an appropriate idea to apply. You then observe what happens and consider its effect on your teaching and children’s learning.
Your reflection helps you decide what to continue, adjust or investigate through your next question.
11. What if I do not know which question to ask?
You will receive prompts and guidance to help you turn a broad interest, uncertainty or classroom problem into a meaningful professional question.
You can begin by considering:
- What is happening in my practice now?
- What do I want children to learn?
- What am I uncertain about?
- What would I like to improve?
- What decision do I need to make?
You do not need to arrive with a perfectly worded question. Learning to ask increasingly meaningful questions is part of the Academy’s professional-learning process.
Improving teaching and learning
12. How can the Academy help with an immediate classroom need or challenge?
You can bring a current need directly to the Wisdom Tool instead of waiting for the right course, workshop or resource to appear.
Your question could relate to planning a learning experience, supporting a curriculum goal, responding to children’s interests, selecting an appropriate teaching approach or resolving uncertainty about technology use.
The Academy helps you find relevant knowledge and practical options when you need to make a teaching decision.
13. How does the Academy help me integrate digital technology meaningfully?
The Academy encourages you to begin with children’s learning—not with a device, application or digital activity.
You consider:
- what children need to learn;
- the pedagogy and teaching strategies required;
- the children and learning context involved;
- whether digital technology can contribute something valuable.
The Academy then helps you explore how technology could support, extend or transform the learning. This keeps children, curriculum and pedagogy at the centre of your decisions.
14. Does the Academy encourage educators to use more technology?
No. The purpose is not to increase screen time or include technology in every learning experience.
The Academy helps educators decide whether, why, when and how digital technology should be used. Sometimes it may contribute something valuable; at other times, a non-digital experience will be more appropriate.
Meaningful integration means selecting technology because it supports the intended learning—not simply because it is available.
15. Can the Academy help me decide when digital technology is—and is not—appropriate?
Yes. Developing informed professional judgement is an important part of the Academy’s learning approach.
You are encouraged to consider the learning purpose, the children involved, your pedagogy, the available technology and what that technology would contribute.
The Academy does not present technology as the automatic answer. It helps you determine whether it is appropriate for a particular learning need and context.
16. How does the Academy support play-based, child-centred learning?
The Academy helps early childhood educators examine how digital technology can complement play, creativity, exploration, communication and child-led inquiry.
Technology should not displace the relationships, physical experiences and active exploration that are essential to young children’s learning.
It should be introduced intentionally when it can extend children’s ideas, support investigation, represent their thinking or enable meaningful forms of creativity and expression.
17. How will I know whether what I apply has made a difference to children’s learning?
You will be encouraged to collect and examine evidence from your practice.
This may include changes in children’s:
- engagement and participation;
- thinking and understanding;
- communication and collaboration;
- creativity and problem-solving;
- independence and decision-making;
- ability to transfer or apply their learning.
Rather than asking only whether children enjoyed an activity, you consider what they learned, what the technology contributed and what the evidence suggests you should do next.
18. Can I use the Academy to document professional learning and critical reflection?
Yes. The member Workbook and learning process help you record your questions, developing knowledge, practical actions, observations and reflections.
This allows you to build evidence of how professional learning has informed your decisions and affected children’s learning.
Your documentation may also support planning, professional discussions, performance development and alignment with relevant curriculum and professional frameworks.
Support and participation
19. What support will I receive when I join?
You will receive onboarding guidance to help you identify an immediate professional need, formulate your first question and begin using the Wisdom Tool.
Ongoing support includes guided emails, community prompts and discussions, relevant membership content, the member Workbook and live facilitation sessions.
The purpose is to help you follow a meaningful professional-learning process instead of leaving you to navigate a collection of resources alone.
20. What is the 90-day professional-learning pathway?
The 90-day pathway is a recommended initial period in which you work towards a meaningful professional goal with guidance and support.
During the pathway, you:
- Identify what you need to understand or improve.
- Ask focused questions.
- Develop relevant professional knowledge.
- Apply practical strategies.
- Examine evidence from your practice.
- Reflect and determine your next step.
Ninety days provides enough time to move beyond simply receiving information and begin applying, evaluating and strengthening your practice.
21. What participation and time commitment are expected from members?
There is no large amount of predetermined content that must be completed each week. However, meaningful progress requires active participation.
Members are expected to:
- read and act on the guidance provided;
- ask questions through the Wisdom Tool;
- apply relevant ideas in practice;
- read community posts and respond through replies, likes or comments;
- share appropriate questions, experiences or reflections;
- attend at least three live facilitation sessions during the initial pathway.
Participation means more than opening emails or downloading resources. The greatest value comes from asking, applying, discussing and reflecting.
22. What happens during the live facilitation sessions?
The first session helps you identify your immediate learning need, establish a meaningful professional goal and begin using the Academy purposefully.
The second and third sessions help you discuss your progress, examine what you have tried, consider the evidence you have observed and determine what to do next.
These are facilitation sessions rather than technology lectures. Their purpose is to help you remain focused and make progress towards a goal that matters in your practice.
Price and joining
23. How much does membership cost, and what options are available?
There are two options:
| Membership Option | Cost | Best suited to... |

| Introductory monthly membership | $5 AUD for the first month, then $20 AUD per month | Educators who want ongoing professional learning and the recommended 90-day pathway |
| One-month access | $50 AUD once | Educators who want access for one month without a recurring subscription |
The monthly option renews automatically until cancelled. With the $5 introductory month, the first three months cost a total of $45 AUD.
The $50 one-month option is a single payment and does not renew automatically.
24. How do I know whether the ICT in Education Teacher Academy is right for me?
The Academy may be right for you if you want to:
- address an immediate teaching need or uncertainty;
- make informed decisions about digital technology;
- connect professional learning directly with classroom practice;
- work towards a meaningful professional goal;
- ask questions and find practical, relevant guidance;
- apply ideas and examine their impact;
- participate actively in your professional development.
It may not be the right choice if you only want to download resources, watch videos or access content without participating in the learning process.
You do not need to arrive with extensive knowledge or a detailed plan. You need a genuine need to learn and a willingness to ask, apply, participate and reflect.
